Photo Exhibition in Malaysia

Journalist Pant, also the collector of several photographs on famous Nepali Buddhist sites said that he wanted to support the campaign against the wrong publicity about the Buddha's birthplace. Therefore, he worked together with NRN Malaysia to hold the photo and documentary exhibition. Previously, Pant had organised such exhibitions in Hong Kong, Thailand and the USA.

At the exhibition, a 26-minute long documentary on Lumbini with English subtitles has also been shown. The photographs and documentary have been produced by journalist Pant and his younger brother Shambhu. Pant brothers are currently associated with Nepal Television and Image Television.

Along with Pant, the tourism entrepreneurs of Lumbini area, Kishor Joshi, Abhinash Shrestha and Nirakar Pant have also visited Malaysia to promote Lumbini there.

The exhibition was visited by several ambassadors of Buddhist nations, monks and nuns, Buddhist association members and hundreds of Nepalese residing in Malaysia.

The exhibition, which was held in active involvement of NRN Malaysia President Shankar Bahadur Paudel and its member Raju Sharma, has been able to dispel the wrong message that Lord Buddha was born in India and spread the message that he was born in Lumbini of Nepal.
President Paudel said that the Nepalese must come forward to take a lead to protect and promote Nepali culture and heritages. "This is the reason we have organised the exhibition."

The exhibition has not only supported to identify the importance of Lumbini but also helped in promoting tourism in the area, NRN, Malaysia member Raju Sharma said. Malaysia has 30 per cent of Buddhist and Hindu population and Lumbini is a pilgrimage for both communities, Sharma said.
